C.S. Lewis Fall Conference
The Forge of Friendship: C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, & the Creative Impulse
November 8 – 10, 2013
Hilton Post Oak Hotel
Houston, Texas
In honor of C.S. Lewis, who passed away, 50 years ago, November 22, 1963, the C.S. Lewis Foundation is presenting two conferences — one was in June in San Diego, and the upcoming one. And yes, he did die the same day as J.F. Kennedy and Aldous Huxley.
Writers Workshop Track: Creating in Community
Our Vision is to bring together and disciple a community of writers in the spirit of The Inklings. C.S. Lewis’s works continue to inspire and influence. Our mission is to actively encourage this, recapturing the essence of community Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien and their fellow writers enjoyed. We offer nourishment for your writer’s soul and discipleship for your calling.
A Lewis Centered Writers Workshop Track — Why?
Lewis was a writer “Why did I become a writer? Chiefly, I think, because my clumsiness or fingers prevented me from making things in any other way.”
He influenced and inspired other writers “Whenever you are fed up with life, start writing: ink is the great cure for all human ills, as I have found out long ago.”
He belonged to a community of writers The Inklings encouraged, supported, and promoted each other’s work “What I owe to them all is incalculable.”
As writers we share many of the same challenges as did Lewis & his friend, J.R.R. Tolkien “Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, “What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”

The C.S. Lewis Foundation
The primary impact of the foundation’s mission is on people’s lives — in the way they work, study, write, and live their lives for Christ – and in turn, how they influence those around them. Visit the C.S. Lewis Foundation website.
